Australia’s Aid Program in Nepal
Australia has a long history of development cooperation with Nepal which began in the early 1960s. Australia’s development cooperation program is largely delivered through Government of Nepal (GoN) systems and in partnership with other donors and multilateral organisations. Australian assistance focuses on activities that support human development, strengthen and improve governance and assist peace building. In 2009-2010, Australia will provide an estimated AUD 15.8 million in ODA to Nepal contributing to improving access to basic education, improving basic health outcomes, reducing poverty, and promoting inclusive governance.
